Quirky heartthrob Johnny Depp stars as
Willy Wonka in this month’s big budget
feature Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,
an adaptation of the children’s novel by
Ronald Dahl. The book was the inspiration
for the classic ‘70s film Willie Wonka and the
Chocolate Factory. Director Tim Burton has
previously directed the notoriously grungy
Depp (who jokingly refers to himself as "Mr.
Stench") in the modern-day Frankenstein tale
Edward Scissorhands and the equally dark
Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The title character
Charlie will be played by the young Freddie
Highmore, Depp’s costar in the acclaimed independent film Finding Neverland. |
