For our annual “3 Days of
Fashion” 2007 contest, we
asked FashionClub.com
members to give a friend
a celebrity makeover! For
inspiration, entrants were
asked to choose from among
three style icons: Audrey
Hepburn, Gwen Stefani, or
Beyoncé. The winner received
three fashion-filled days in
Los Angeles, with V.I.P.
tickets to FIDM’s “3 Days of Fashion” at FIDM included

Audrey Hepburn: A name
synonymous with timeless style
and elegance. Although her style
was somewhat understated, she
was and still is a fashion icon. Her
classic beauty reflects both innocence
and sensuality while remaining
gracefully proper. My choice in this
project was based upon these facts. |

Her style is unique because it was
not only popular during her era,
but is still shown and adapted into
today’s fashions. As is obvious in
my makeover, it is a common thing
to see fashions that she wore on
women of all ages today. Young and
old alike can wear her style and wear
it well.
In recreating Hepburn’s look,
I first chose several photographs
that portray the image that pops
into your mind when you think of her.
Next, I studied her face, makeup, hair,
clothing, mannerisms and career.
Then, I WENT SHOPPING! After
choosing my model carefully, it was
an awesome experience to go
searching for each item I used in
the makeover.
The dress that I chose was the
basic black dress with a modern day
twist. The scoop neck and empire
waistline is classic Hepburn. The
pointed, closed towed pumps were
the perfect compliment to the dress,
and the pearl jewelry is as timeless
as Audrey herself.
Recreating the French twist hairstyle
was definitely a challenge with my
model due to the fact that she had
three times the hair of any average
person! After much trial and error, I
got her hair swooped up and into
position with the decorative broach.
Her makeup, on the other hand, was
one of the easier tasks. |

The before and after pictures of my model, Bailey, show the dramatic
transformation. Even I was shocked at her resemblance to Audrey
Hepburn.
I enjoyed this project so much as it has opened my eyes to the different
eras of fashion and cosmetics as well as hairstyles. Audrey Hepburn’s
beauty, grace and fashion sense will forever be admired. |
