RAEGAN'S ENTRY:
Dear Fashion Club,
A tea party usually brings about one of two thoughts when first mentioned. Either an overly sophisticated, white glove affair or a childhood pastime shared with your friends and dolls. But "tea party" is never really conected to high school teenagers — until now. For the dinner party theme, I chose a "tea party." It isn't supposed to be too sophisticated or too child-ish, but somewhere in between. The table cloth and napkin set I borrowed from my aunt and antique tea-cups I borrowed from my grandmother, as well as the tea pot, to give the table setting a warm genuine vibe. However, the tea-cups are not uniform, but instead eclectic and different in their own way, which adds a young, creative vibe.
The names of each of my guests, my four close friends, are attached to the end of a tea bag, which was then placed in their tea-cup. This makes the name cards less formal, and relates back to the central theme. The center piece also reflects the "tea party" setting, which is a tea pot used as a vase for tulips. This arrangement incorporates the tea pot, an essential item at a tea party, but when used as a vase for flowers, it creates a whole new look. The tulips give a fresh look to the table, but are also cut short so that you can see the person sitting across the table from you. Even though the "tea part" theme is a main part of the dinner party, the most important aspect of any dinner party would be to chat and catch up with friends and spend time together. This is also why the table is set for four. Four people is enough to have plenty to share and talk about, but is still a warm and intimate setting for friends.
Lastly, if I could choose any additional guest to invite it would most definitely be Audrey Hepburn. The character she plays in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is so free-spirited and light hearted that she would be a perfect guest for dinner and tea. SHe is elegant and classy with her black dress and perls, yet she also knows where to find her inner child. Her presence would make this tea-party enjoyable and she would fit in perfectly.
It is not often that teenagers hold tea parties, but that just adds to the uniqueness of this party; it is simple yet elegant, it is time to relax and chat with friends, and it is eclectic and fresh. So please, won't you join me for tea?
Sincerely,
Raegan A.
