Taralyn's Entry:

When I heard about this contest, almost immediately I thought that my cousin completely deserves this. After all, only a few years ago she underwent a kidney transplant that saved her life. Her usual attire consists of a baggy t-shirt and tight pants. The way she dresses is comfortable, but it accentuates some of her not-so-great features. She is built with a large upper body, so I wanted to find something that would accentuate curves in the right areas. I feel that the shirt I chose does this. It is a white halter with a sheer fabric and a pink translucent sequined flower in the lower left and upper right. The way the shirt sort of flared out on the longer side accentuates shaplier hips and a curvy waist. The pants that I chose are simple dark blue jeans, but I felt that they showed off the definition in her legs. Then I went for the shoes. I wanted to find something to light up the sequins on the shirt a bit more, so I chose pink beaded stilettos that, on top of making her taller, actually made her legs look longer and thinner. For the accessories, I chose a scarf with the same sequins and sheer fabric as the shirt. When I put it in her hair it made everything kind of tie together. The necklace and the earrings added something more too, so that I accomplished my goal. Overall, she was pleasantly surprised that she could pull off something girly, which is not like her. My goal in this outfit is to give her a broadened horizon in fashion, and show her that she can look beautiful and girly without changing her personality. I would like to win this contest, because I want to learn more about how I can grow as a designer.
