Angie Anderson wrote: “I like myself because I can appreciate the image I see in the mirror, the voice I hear when I speak, and the rhythm in my step as I walk. I like how I can respect the differences I find in others, and that I can look past the outside of a person and see the beauty of the soul within. I like myself enough to have trust in my own decisions and know that I am my own best resource. I like how I am open-minded and am willing to give new ideas a chance. I like myself because I have the tools to survive, to be close to others, to be productive, and to make sense and order out of the world around me. I own me, and therefore, I can engineer me. I am me, and I am okay.”

Jenna Daunais wrote: “Shirin Ebadi, an Iranian lawyer, spent 23 days in prison for supporting the revolution against the Pahlavi dynasty. In 2003, she received the Nobel Prize for her campaign for peaceful solutions. Ebadi says, "When you are hopeless, you are at a dead end". Shirin Ebadi's words are the saving grace of many Islam women but her message reaches all women. Her words bring new life to a simple message, "Believe in yourself!" What I like most about myself is that I always see problems as obstacles not the ends to a mean. Anything can happen. My car breaks down. The price of my tuition goes up every year. Not everybody is always on my side. Yet, dreams are never broken. Our world would not be the same if the inventors, idealists, artists, activists, and dreamers saw an obstacle as a dead end. I love that I believe in myself!”

Ani Mirzakhanyan wrote: “There are many characteristics that contribute to my overall confidence, but the one I like best, and the one that makes me different from other people, is my complete open-mindedness and zeal toward learning anything new. I am always excited to know new information, but the best part, for me, is to take that information and use it in such a way that expands my creativity and allows me to truly be an individual. I am a strong advocate for learning from others to better yourself and your community. I am stronger and more well-rounded because of this particular quality and I am positive that I will benefit my community by being this way as I grow.”

Kat Cole wrote: “Gee...what I like about myself is an interesting topic to question about. I have many qualities that I do enjoy, but my favorite has got to be my ability to drive myself for the goal. I have a determination that is easily sparked and once lit I go off running to the goal. No matter the task at hand, if provoked, I can achieve things unlike any other person has done before. My determination and high standards for myself force myself to see something I want and go for it. I can get a little crazy about achieving my goals and become a vicious competitor, but I just love to come out on top. I sound like an ego-driven child, but I long for accomplishments and being recognized for them by others. My determination and ability to just go for it is what I admire about myself because I want to be able to look back upon my life when I'm older and be able to say that I had tried and competed whether or not I was successful in achieving my objectives.”

Tara Michael wrote: “Write you entry here: Smiling makes everyone happy! The thing I like most about my self is my smile. When I give someone a huge grin, and they look at me and smile, it gives me a satisfied feeling. My day goes so much better to know that some one else is happy. If you smile just once a day, it is proven to make it go a hundred times better! Smiles are the essence of the face, and that makes it the best part of me! Besides, you don't have to have a beautiful face to have a beautiful smile, do you?”

Stephanie Lim wrote: “If anyone were to ask me to describe myself in three words, I would choose to say that I am: assertive, blunt, and pragmatic. I believe that everyone should strive to be down-to-earth and sensible, but hold dreams and ambitions as well. Striving to meet my own standards, I am an upfront girl with almost an excess of attitude. I have been told that my candidness can be overbearing or hurtful at times, but I am happy with my frank personality. I love that I am a strong, straightforward, and honest person even if I (unintentionally) offend others. Incidentally, my views on life are reflected in my artwork, clearly defining me as a unique person with a touch of impudence.

Alyssa Kwasman wrote: “I am a fantastic learner. If I'm really interested in something, it's like my brain is waiting to be filled with information on the subject. Enter guitar. I love music, and everything about it, so when I started learning guitar, my teacher told me I was an amazing student. I don't know how that goes for my playing, but I shocked myself with this incredible ability to learn stuff really fast! As of now, I've been playing for a little over a year, and I couldn't be more excited about it. That is what I like most about myself.”

Amanda Rodriguez wrote: “What I like most about myself I'd have to say would be my ability to have fun! Alot of people look at everyone else and if they are doing something they dont like they are automatically labeled weirdos or losers, well to me I think you have to be who you are, so what if you are dorky I mean I am! I like to have fun so what if people are trying to judge me I DONT CARE! if people talk before they get to know me then they are not really worth knowing because who wants a friend who wont accept you for who you are! In class me and my best friend are always laughing and smiling I like people to say she is always smiling instead of she is always dogging people. Its fun to be myself to be able to laugh about stupid stuff and not feel like, woah that was sooo totally uncool to laugh at that, omg!!! Hahaha just have fun and be a dork once in a while it's really fun!”

Elyse de Mello wrote: “Dear Fashion Club, I'm 16 and at my school I see so many girls be self consious of themselves and say what they hate about their body and I feel bad for them becuase the truth is that they are so pretty! But I look at myself and I see a funny, pretty and strong girl doing great in life and having fun! I don't worry about how I look because this is who I am, I look at the positive things about my self! I do try to keep my body healthy though by eating right and exercising, doing this can make you feel so much better! I love that I am so outgoing and that I go with the flow! I'm a pretty adventurous person and love to try new things! And being a teenage girl I looove to shop! It's so much fun to go to the mall and just hang out with your freinds and try on makeup, clothes, etc.! I love that I am a good student and I don't slack off! I want to succeed in life and by believing in myself and beliving I can go all the way I know I'll make it! I also hope that all the other girls out there start focussing on the positive things about themselves and do their best!”

Casey Sawaia wrote: “The one thing I like about myself the most is my ability to make others happy. Not everyone can have a good day everyday. Life is definately filled with ups and downs. I can't stand to see anyone sad or alone by themselves. When a friend is having a bad day, I completely go out of my way to make them turn their bad mood around. Whether it's me making myself out to be a fool and acting stupid to make them laugh, getting them a little gift to make them smile, or just always being there for support, I love to cheer people up and make people happy. There is nothing I love more than being able to make someone smile and take part in my happiness as well. I totally think that is what being an all-around good human being is about. Just being able to spread happiness to sad people and making people feel better when they are down. Bad things in life are inevitable, but they can always be made better by that little ray of sunshine. So when asked what I like best about myself, I will always be quick to respond that I love my ability to make others happy. Happiness and love truly make the world go round!”
