The Femme Fatale
FIDM Student Designer Jarret Levin
Designed for Blake Lively
Inspired by Veronica Lake
Our Femme Fatale style assignment was awarded to Jarret Levin, and he met the challenge with verve. He said the key to this look was the bustier, which he beaded by hand! He worked white dupioni silk into the bustier as well, which speaks to Blake Lively’s sophisticated, glamorous style.
The vintage dress that Jarret started with had a scoop neck, long sleeves, and an overlay of cream lace. The designer detached the cream lace and replaced it with grey chiffon. We think ‘40s film actress Veronica Lake would have given it her nod of approval (as her long, curly hair fell down over one eye).
