Top 10 Must-Haves for a
Summer Concert
Fashion Trends
You've been looking forward to going to a music festival for months, and the time is finally here. You've got your tickets. Now it's time to pack! We asked FIDM Students the top things on their must-have list. We want to keep you stylish and comfortable while you're listening to the
b-e-s-t-m-u-s-i-c-e-v-e-r!
1. High-Low Dress
The scorching heat is sure to soak into your bones at an outdoor summer festival, so an airy sundress is a necessity, especially one with a high-low hem—perfect for catching a breeze.
2. Mineral Powder
How convenient—sun protection in a powder, mineral powder that is. At any point in your sun-drenched day, you can easily brush it on. Peter Thomas Roth makes an excellent one with SPF 45. A best-seller at Sephora, it's translucent with a matte finish.
3. Shorts
Shorts are a summer fashion must, music fest or otherwise. Go for studded denim cut-offs, lace shorts, eyelet hem styles, ruffled shorts, and high-rise looks. They can double as a layer under your sheer maxi skirt.
4. Black Eyeliner
Good smokey eyes are a great look for any music fest experience. Look for a strong black eyeliner that will smudge "just so" to get that sultry, smokey eye look. Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil is waterproof and creamy, and it's available in a new color, Perversion, that is labeled as the "blackest-black matte."
5. Tote Bag
Bring an overnight bag that can double as your daytime tote—large enough for your change of clothes, but comfortable enough to wear all day, carrying around your water bottle, snacks, and various sundries. A great option is the hobo; it conveniently hangs close to the body, freeing up essential space for you to move through crowds.
6. Rose Floral Water
Wherever you go, chances are you're going to be hot. There's nothing more refreshing than a cool mist of water on your face. Try a rose-scented one for a spa-like experience.
7. Lightweight Scarf
A summer scarf is such a versatile piece. It's so on trend, and it can double as your air conditioner! Wet it down and drape it around your neck for an exquisite cooling experience. And, if you're in the mood, why not wrap it around your head and knot it in the back for a boho chic look.
8. Hat
Falling in line with dual function pieces is the wide-brimmed hat, whether it's floppy, straw, cowboy, or structured. We're loving this one with a leather strap under the chin. You never know when the wind might come roaring into the music fest!
9. Lip Protector
Even if you keep incredibly hydrated, your lips can still take a beating in the summer heat. They can burn just like the rest of your skin. And who wants scaly lips? That's just not fun. Be sure to pack a good lip balm with an SPF like Murad's Engergizing Pomegranate Lip Protector.
10. Blanket
Sometimes you just need to sit down and take a load off, and depending on the venue, the ground could be not so attractive to sit on directly. A basic throw is the perfect answer to comfort.
