20 miles of style the real sunset boulevard

Shops & Attractions
Along the World-Famous Sunset Blvd.

One of the most brilliant and best-known film noir titles to date, Sunset Blvd. is still the most stylish and eclectic street in L.A.! Fashion Club is taking a look at a few things that make this 20-mile strip so inspiring.

Sunset Blvd. begins in downtown Los Angeles and stretches 20 miles to the west until it reaches the majestic Pacific Ocean. Between those two points, the sights, smells, and sounds of the city change dramatically from block to block--from the gritty streets of downtown Hollywood to the posh homes of Beverly Hills and on to the shore.
With Catherine Malandrino, D & G Dolce Gabbana, and Just Cavalli among its many stores, Sunset Plaza is one of the hautest blocks in the city! Located in West Hollywood, it’s actually two blocks of chic outdoor cafés, high-end fashion boutiques, and fabulous people watching.
Perhaps the best-known mile-and-a-half stretch of the entire boulevard, the Sunset Strip is the place to be for serious entertainment. Check out the Comedy Store or the Laugh Factory for side-splitting hilarity; the House of Blues for concerts and their famous Gospel Brunch; or world-renowned Carney’s, a hamburger-and-hot dog joint housed inside a yellow train car.
Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood is a musician’s dream, thanks to its many guitar shops and music-related businesses. Often called “Guitar Row” the boulevard is home to legendary recording studios Sunset Sound Studios and United Western Records, where everyone from Sam Cooke to the Smashing Pumpkins have recorded hits.
In addition to numerous trendy nightclubs, including Sky Bar and The Viper Room (formerly owned by Johnny Depp), the Hollywood Palladium, which boasts the world’s biggest dance floor, is located on Sunset. The venue recently celebrated a grand re-opening, featuring Jay-Z and a 12-piece band to back him.
Spend a day on Sunset Blvd. and you’ll likely run into a slew of celebs, from La Lohan to Leonardo DiCaprio, but perhaps the biggest star is the street itself. It’s been featured in tons of Tinseltown hits, such as Pretty Woman, Annie Hall, and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
