This month our favorite fashionista is packing her swimsuit, stocking up on SPF, and brushing up on her español because she’s jetting off to Mexico for a little south-of-the-border fun!

Turista

It’s not surprising that Mexico boasts one of the largest tourism industries in the world—the country is positively amazing with sumptuous tropical regions, phenomenal beach resorts, and a rich history that makes for unbelievable sightseeing. From the warm beaches of Puerto Vallarta to the Mayan Ruins in the Yucatan Peninsula, there is much to see and do in our neighboring country. Here are just a few reasons to head south for the summer!

Fine Arts

Mexico’s art scene is one that easily rivals artistic capitals New York City and London! Hip crowds gather in converted mansions, food-processing factories, or cinder block warehouses for exhibitions from contemporary young talent like Miguel Calderón, as well as works from influential artists of the past such as Diego Rivera (husband to Frida Kahlo) and even Picasso!

Making History

Evidence of Mexico’s ancient civilizations can be seen throughout the country in the form of unique and spectacular architecture, sculptures, paintings, and written works. From the Postclassic architecture of Mayan temples to the colossal head sculptures of the Olmecs to the poetic writings of the Aztecs, you can see a piece of history that dates back thousands of years with your own eyes at one of the country’s many museums and historical landmarks!

Shopper’s Paradise

Who needs shopping when you’re sunning on the beaches of Los Cabos, scuba diving in Acapulco, or learning about contemporary architecture in Guadalajara? We do, and Mexico is a great place to find muy caliente fashion and accessories! Major cities such as Cancun, Guadalajara, and Mexico City offer plenty of high-end shopping at luxury brands like Coach, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton, or visit one of the many outdoor bazaars and local markets throughout the country for handmade jewelry, fashion, and affordable leather.

Pass the Salsa!

From succulent lobster tails to regional and international delicacies to classic tacos stuffed with your favorite goodies, it's easy to eat your way through Mexico and leave hungry for more! Even if you’re not a fan of traditional Mexican fare, you’ll find tons of other options, including American, French Fusion, Japanese, and even Scandinavian cuisine in many parts of the country.

El Ritmo

Whether you’re into rap, reggae, rock, or pop, if music is your thing then Mexico is the place to visit! Like the cuisine, the music of Mexico is incredibly diverse. The traditional sounds of cumbia, rumba, and banda beats, are sure to make you move, and Mexican-American artists like Selena, Carlos Santana, and Spanish hottie Enrique Iglesias are familiar favorites you already love to dance to!
