Students
at FIDM’s Los Angeles campus
don’t have to
go far for amazing fashion
finds. When we feel the urge
to shop, we
head down to our own FIDM Scholarship
Store.
Newly redesigned in mod décor and
made possible
by donations from hundreds
of retailers, manufacturers,
and alumni, the
store is full of awesome deals on cool
clothing and accessories. Plus, they have a
great selection
of wedding gowns and
fabric. You may even come across
designer
labels or a one-of-a-kind find! The best part
is that all proceeds go toward scholarships
for students.
Located on the FIDM
Campus at
919 South Grand Avenue. |

Looking
for trendy treasures that won’t
cost a fortune?
You’re in the right place.
This narrow space may
be teeming with
shoppers, but the deals you’ll
find are worth
fighting the crowds. Pick up anything
from
sunglasses to jewelry, shoes to handbags.
The alley
is also infamous for its designer
knock-offs—so
if you simply must have that “Prada” bag,
well, we won’t tell anyone.
Located east of Santee Street,
between Olympic and 11th Street. |

The
sleek, contemporary style of this place
is great inspiration
for any budding designer.
If you have the chance to stay
here, you’ll
love the ultra-hip digs, with its
cool color
schemes and mod furnishings. And while
you’re
probably too young to enjoy the
breathtaking view from
the rooftop bar,
you can still grab a burger and fries
at
the groovy, mellow-yellow diner.

more info.
Located at 550 South Flower
Street. |

Ok,
there are lots of great restaurants in
Downtown L.A.,
but we’ve chosen to
spotlight this chic Chinese
eatery for one
simple reason: FashionClub staffers recently
spotted Justin Timberlake lunching here!
But celebrity
sightings aside, we like the
casual atmosphere and they
do serve a tasty
Chinese chicken salad at a reasonable
price.
Located at 102 West Ninth Street. |

Local
artists look forward to the third
Saturday of every month,
when this street
festival takes place. Here they can
share
and sell their creations, like unique jewelry,
unusual paintings, and handmade clothing.
You can shop
around, try a new dish, enjoy
the music, and take home
some fine wares
you won’t find anywhere else.
Located on Santa Fe Street,
between 3rd & 4th Street bridge. |

You
don’t need a passport to enjoy a truly
international
experience. Little Tokyo is right
in the heart of Los
Angeles and is home to a
Buddhist temple, shady gardens,
and lots of
authentic Japanese restaurants. Visit the
Japanese-American National Museum to
see some beautiful
art and sculptures, and
maybe even learn some origami.
You’ll also
find terrific bargains, so leave plenty
of time
for shopping!
Located between East First & East
Third streets and South Alameda & South Los Angeles
streets. |
