Travel to the furthest corners of the world
and you’re likely to see some stylish woman
sporting the vibrant colors and intricate embroideries of a Suneet Varma design.
From Hong Kong to South Africa, the
India-born fashion designer-extraordinaire
is gaining international recognition for his
colorful creations, and for good reason.
Here are some reasons why we adore him. |

 |
After graduating from school in 1986,
Varma spent time working under
couturiers Nicole Farhi in London
and Yves Saint Laurent in Paris.
Plus he’s consulted for Carolina
Herrera, Calvin Klein, Donna
Karan and Nicole Miller.
Talk about a dream job! |

 |
At a time when fashion was not
an acceptable career for men in
his culture, Varma followed his
heart and became a fashion
designer instead of a banker.
In fact, he was among the first in
his generation to veer away from
traditional careers for Indian men.
His parents rock because they
supported his decision!

There is nothing we love more
than a clever title, and Le Spice
is just that! It seems to describe
not only the trademark over-
embellished, colorful style of
Varma’s designs, but also the
food and flair of his native
country as well. |

Whether he's dressing top Bollywood
actresses for social events or for high
profile films, Varma is making a name
for himself in one of the world's
largest film industries. His designs
were featured in the award-winning
blockbuster Monsoon Wedding,plus
he's been awarded Designer of the
Year by the Bollywood Fashion
Council in New York several times.
