My FIDM Fashion Club Scholarship Contest 2012
Congratulations to our Winners—Haley, Mekayla, and Lauren!
Each year, we call for high school juniors and seniors in official FIDM Fashion Clubs to enter the My FIDM Fashion Club Scholarship Contest. One full-year scholarship to attend FIDM is awarded in the junior category, and two $5,000 scholarships to attend FIDM are awarded in the senior category.
Juniors are asked to imagine they've been hired to plan (with an unlimited budget) the look and concept of a fashion show for a famous fashion designer of their choice, then develop the concept. They must keep in mind that the audience will be fashion editors, buyers, and VIPs from all over the world!
Seniors are asked to put themselves ten years into the future and write a 500-word essay detailing what their FIDM Fashion Club has been up to for the last 10 years.

Mekayla J.'s Essay Excerpt
"FIDM Fashion Club was involved in funding a fashion show for HIV and cancer; about five hundred people came to the event. The members said it was the best event of the year and the student body, teachers, and staff continue to talk of this event to this very day. The club was also involved in preparing their own fashion show for Macy's, as well as attending the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. Each member raised money by making garments that inspired them. The president told me it has been a year of continuous success."
Lauren L.'s Essay Excerpt
"It's been ten years. As I go back and walk the halls of Buchanan and talk with the current FIDM Fashion Club President, I find out that one of their on-going projects has been the Clovis Unified District Fashion Show. The District Fashion Show is put on by all the FIDM Fashion Clubs in the school district (5 high schools—it's branched out that far!) and all members start the year off by having a luncheon to discuss plans for the year. Every school gets the prestigious honor of hosting the show, choosing the theme and location, obtaining sponsors and donations, and representing FIDM Fashion Club and FIDM at large."
